Pakistan cueists move to third round of IBSF U18 World Championship.
KARACHI: Pakistan cueists Mohammad Saqib and Abdul Raheem maintained their perfect starts in the IBSF U18 World Championship by winning the second-round matches in St Petersberg, Russia on Tuesday.
Saqib had to power through a tough five-frame game against Russia’s Kirill Petrov for his victory.
A day after scoring over 100 points in three frames in his opening match, Saqib took an early lead in the second one.
However, Petrov kept the game tight and levelled the game 1-1 before changing tactics to win the third frame on the trot.
With the Russian just one frame away from recording a win, Saqib’s double-rescue act steered him to an impressive victory with a scoreline of 62-19, 49-62, 53-66, 82-10 and 90-25.
Meanwhile, Raheem had an easy outing as he notched up a 3-0 win against Russia’s Vasilii Dimitrenko with scores of 53-18, 91-14 (54) and 57-20.
