Roberson baseball is bringing out the heavy hitters for an Oct. 24 fundraiser.
But that’s the point when a home-run derby will accompany an alumni game featuring former Rams players.
Miami Marlins pitcher Chris Narveson, as well as current Atlanta Braves minor-league players Braxton Davidson and Justin Jackson have committed to the event, as have other esteemed graduates as Alex Ledford (2011), Aaron Wright (2011), Matt Wright (199), Chris Price (2002) and Ryan Radford (2002).
There is a $25 cost to participate in the alumni game which includes batting practice, a t-shirt and meal. Gates open at 12:30 p.m. and admission for spectators is $10. There will be lunch, dinner plates and other refreshments for sale. Children who are 12 and under will be admitted free.
The home run derby is set to last from 2 to 3 p.m. and the alumni game will then begin at 3:45.
Roberson is hoping to use the funds from this event to not only improve Holmes-Smith Field, but pay for its spring break trip to the 2016 IMG Classic tournament in Bradenton, Fla.
Former players who would like to participate are asked to contact Roberson coach Eric Filipek at (828) 768-0740 or [email protected]
