Cue the O’Neal residence being flooded with tandem scholarship offers for Shaq’s young sons.
Future Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Shaquille O’Neal shared a short video with his 1.9 million followers on Instagram of sons Shareef and Shaquir combining for a pair of impressive alley-oops in an open gym. Shaq included the caption: “O’Neal boys comin’ soon.”
The one throwing down the dunks is 15-year-old Shareef — the 6-foot-8 Windward School (Los Angeles) sophomore who you’ve probably heard of already — but the one tossing those perfectly timed passes over his head and off the backboard is 12-year-old Shaqir.
Shareef is a four-star recruit who already holds reported offers from UCLA and USC after averaging 3.7 points and 2.9 rebounds as a freshman on a Windward team that reached the second round of California’s Division V state tournament last season. He also impressed with his athleticism and surprising shooting range on the summer circuit in Houston.
After seeing a few seconds of video on Instagram, you can bet Windward is salivating over the prospect of pairing O’Neal’s sons in the near future. We know little about Shaqir’s talent outside of the snippets he posts for his own 11,500 Instagram followers on a semi-regular basis.
But if there half as good as their dad, those college coaches will come knocking any day now.
