Prep roundup: CCS stays unbeaten in conference play | USA Today High School Sports

ANN ARBOR – The Calhoun Christian Cougars volleyball team won in three sets, 25-20, 25-16, 25-18 over the Rudolf Steiner Storm in Mid-South Conference action.

Leading Calhoun Christian (6-0 Mid-South) statistically was Kirby Frodge with 16 kills and Lindsey Barry with eight kills, 14 digs, and seven aces.

Lauren Wilcox also contributed with 19 digs, while Kara Twiest had 17 digs, and Abby Parks had 21 assists.


BRONSON POLISH CLASSIC (SAT.): Bronson took home the trophy in their own tournament, defeating Onsted in the finals, 25-18, 25-23. The Vikings (35-6-2) were led by Adyson Lasky with 18 digs, Alexa Ratkowski with 120 assists, 26 kills, and 24 digs, and Allison Sikorski with nine aces, 18 kills, and 39 digs.

HARPER CREEK INVITE (SAT.): St. Philip was runner-up in Saturday’s tournament, losing in the finals to host Harper Creek. The Fighting Tigers beat Loy Norrix and Delton-Kellogg and split with Marshall during pool play, and then advanced to the finals by taking down Three Rivers (25-16, 25-16) and Portage Northern (25-23, 27-25) in bracket play. Abby McKenzie led St. Philip in kills with 67, and Kameron Haley had a team-high in aces with seven.

Coldwater went 2-1-1 on the day, beating B.C. Central (25-21, 25-16) and Climax-Scotts (25-20, 25-22) in pool play, but losing to Marshall (21-25, 16-25) in bracket play. Statistically for the Cardinals, Megan Gallup led teh team in kills with 17, while Jamie Wellet had 51 assists and 14 kills. Also for Coldwater (10-14-1), Jasmine Wellet had 25 digs and 16 kills, Shelby Kahler had 30 digs, and Drue Mullin had 25 digs and 14 kills.


(AT) MARSHALL 212, THREE RIVERS 229: In the dual meet, the Redhawks’ top four golfers were Loren Bates (45), Natalie Newman (51), Kirsten Miller (56), Haley McQuown (60).

Coldwater top five: 8-Shuaib Aljabaly 16:29; 14-Zack Murphy 16:37, 22-Ben Fagen 16:48, 26-Matt Sowles 16:51, 30-Josh Evers 17:00.
