Polio cases – The Express Tribune

It is really disappointing to note that two new polio cases have been reported in Pakistan

TURBAT: It is really disappointing to note that two new polio cases have been reported in Pakistan, in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and Balochistan. The total for this year is 34 polio cases, mostly from K-P and Fata.

A three day anti-polio drive was recently launched in Balochistan and the next campaign will be held later this month. While it is good to see the authorities working to improve the situation, a lot remains to be done. There has been some success as last year, 234 polio cases were reported and this year, only 34 have been reported so far. However, instead of becoming complacent we need to ensure that the disease is eradicated once and for all.
