Monday was an occasion for more milestones in Western North Carolina volleyball.
Hayesville junior Maddie Payne recorded her 1,000th career assist for the Yellow Jackets (15-1) in their 3-1 home win over Smoky Mountain.
And in another nonconference match, Polk County sophomore Kendall Hall made her 1,000th career dig as the Wolverines (15-4) turned back visiting Enka, 3-1.
Hayesville (Big Smoky Mountain 1-A) and Polk County (Western Highlands 1-A/2-A) are both first-place teams in their respective conferences.
