Bergen Catholic coach Nunzio Campanile told NJ Advance Media of Guarantao’s injury on Monday:
“It’s an injury to a ligament in his foot,” Campanile said, according to the report. “It’s unfortunate, but that’s the nature of the game of football.”
The 6-4, 194-pound Tennessee commit had been having an MVP-type season, completing 103 of his 146 passes (70.5%) for 1,285 yards and nine touchdowns. He had also rushed for 229 yards and six touchdowns. Guarantano threw for 1,030 yards and nine touchdowns and ran for nine touchdowns last season as a junior, but his season was cut short because of a broken right (throwing) wrist.
