Once again, I felt the wrath of the unpredictability of prep football in the PNJ coverage area.

Last Friday, I selected four-of-eight games correctly.

Two of my incorrect picks were decided by six points or less, adding a little extra sting to my Friday night.

Gulf Breeze proved me wrong, and made things interesting in District 2-6A with a 48-26 win over Milton.

At Pine Forest, the Eagles hosted the Escambia Gators for what created an amazing environment for Friday night football. But I missed that pick, too.

31-of-90 participants beat me, with nine selecting six games right.

Congratulations to this week’s lucky-raffle winners for a one-of-a-kind, Andy Marlette-designed #BeatBrian t-shirt: Eddie Ealy, Tommy Carter, Alison Filbert and Bill Brockinton.

The weekly grand prize winner (#BeatBrian shirt, $25 gift car, Tervis tumbler and #BeatBrian mini-football) is Harold Coats.

Winners are welcome to come by the Pensacola News Journal (2 North Palafox Street) beginning Wednesday to claim their prizes.

Time for a new week and a new slate … we’ll be choosing from seven games with three teams holding bye weeks.

Escambia and Navarre will clash for a rematch from last year’s thrilling Region 1-6A quarterfinal game, which the Raiders won.

Tate and Pace will meet for a father vs. son coaching duel, as Jay Lindsey’s Aggies head to face Mickey Lindsey’s Patriots.

Here go the games for Week Seven:

Friday, Oct. 9

Cottondale at Jay, 7 p.m.

Liberty County at Northview, 7 p.m.

Gulf Breeze at Walton, 7 p.m.

Escambia at Navarre, 7:30 p.m.

Crestview at Milton, 7:30 p.m.

Tate at Pace, 7:30 p.m.

Catholic at West Florida, 7:30 p.m.

Bye week: Pensacola High, Pine Forest, Washington
