Speakers will narrate the history of the internet and how it evolved over the years
Senator Mushahid Hussain has said there should be a task force comprising representatives of government, academia, industry and civil society to devise a future strategy for proper internet governance.
He was speaking at the launching ceremony of the Pakistan School on Internet Governance (PkSIG) project at HEC on Monday.
A four-day workshop covering political, legal, economic, socio-cultural, technological and other dimensions of internet governance within the context of national imperatives also kicked off.
The HEC and the National Textile University in collaboration with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, the Asia-Pacific Network Internet Centre and Internet Society have launched the project
He said internet was a driving force for change and steps for internet governance in Pakistan were extremely necessary. Pakistan Telecommunication Authority Chairman Dr Ismail Shah said Pakistan has witnessed a remarkable growth in terms internet accessibility and the number of people having access to internet has increased from 3.7 million in 2014 to 19.2 million at present.
Speakers will narrate the history of the internet and how it evolved over the years.
