Lake Brantley (Altamonte Springs, Fla.) senior kicker Jacob Godek had quite a night Friday against Seminole.
He equaled the school record with a 54-yard field goal in the final minute of the first half, and then broke the school record with a 57-yarder as time expired.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the 57-yarder equaled the second-longest field goal in area history. Sebastian Janikowski made a 60-yard field goal for Daytona Beach Seabreeze in 1996. Alan Gendreau hit a 57-yarder for Orangewood Christian in 2006.
Lake Brantley (6-0) won 27-26 after leading 20-0 at halftime.
Godek’s impact was on more than the scoreboard. All four of his kickoffs went for touchbacks and he averaged 41.3 yards on three punts, with a long of 51, and one that was downed inside the 20.
