Organisers reject K-Electric’s application claiming it was ‘too late’
KARACHI: Pakistan’s hopes of competing at an international event this year faded as the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup organisers rejected Pakistan Premier Football League champions K-Electric’s (KE) application for the tournament in Bangladesh, scheduled to begin this month.
According to the letter sent by member secretary Alhaj Shamshul Hoque Chowdhury, the PFF were late in submitting their documents, hence the organisers could not allow the Pakistan champions to participate in the event.
PFF secretary Lodhi has, however, denied the claims, insisting that the documents were submitted on time.
“I spoke to their secretary in the morning and sent the forms in the evening, which wasn’t past the deadline,” Lodhi told The Express Tribune. “It was an invitational tournament. The organisers invited us first and later refused to allow us to compete. There is nothing we can do about it.”
