RUN TO DAYLIGHT
These five high school players led their teams to victories with outstanding performances:
Johannesburg-Lewiston: The 5-foot-10, 185-pound running back/linebacker carried the ball eight times for 245 yards and TD runs of 49, 76 and 45 yards, and added 11 tackles and an interception in a 58-30 victory over Detroit Consortium.
Mason: The 5-9, 175 junior running back carried the ball 27 times and gained 266 yards, scoring touchdowns on runs of 11, 54, 6, 63 and 18 yards to spark Mason to a 42-35 victory over Lansing Waverly.
Iron Mountain North Dickinson: He carried the ball only 10 times, but gained 200 yards and set a school record by scoring eight touchdowns on runs of 37, 24, 35, 37 and 25 yards and receptions of 7, 52 and 35 yards in a 58-22 win over Bessemer-Gogebic.
Negaunee: The 5-9, 165 senior ran for 287 yards and scored on runs of 29, 41 and 49 yards leading Negaunee to a 55-22 victory over Mid-Peninsula.
Pinconning: The junior running back carried the ball 27 times and gained 247 yards while scoring touchdowns on runs of 65, 25 and 20 yards as Pinconning defeated Bay City All Saints, 35-19.
