An anti-narcotics court on Saturday summoned three more witnesses in the ephedrine case against former member of the National Assembly, Hanif Abbasi for October 17. Two witnesses, Drug Inspector Muhammad Arif Mithani and Muhammad Rizwan recorded their statements before the Control of Narcotics Substances Court Judge Chaudhry Anwar Ahmed.
They were also cross-examined by Abbasi’s counsel Sardar Ishaq. The hearing was then adjourned till October 17 and the court summoned three other witnesses in the case.
Case of two bottles
Meanwhile, the hearing of a liquor recovery case against film actress and television star Atiqa Odho has also been adjourned till October 17.
Civil Judge Khalid Bashir heard the case on Saturday. At the next hearing, Odho’s counsel will cross-examine the statements of the witnesses recorded earlier.
The actress has been excused from appearing in person before the court.
Odho, a former member of Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s All Pakistan Muslim League, was booked by the Airport police on June 5, 2011, after two liquor bottles were recovered from her luggage by Customs authorities.
