With a win against a conference rival, DeMatha sent a clear message about just how good it is as the league schedule gets in full swing.
The only score of the first half was a 79-yard TD reception by Anthony McFarland from Beau English after St. John’s turned the ball over on downs. It had a fourth-and-4 at the DeMatha 24 and came up just short.
In the second half, DeMatha scored early on a great catch by Kellon Taylor that went for a touchdown and a 12-0 lead. Khory Spruill scored on a 5-yard TD run for a 19-0 lead at the end of the third quarter and DeMatha had the ball inside the St. John’s 5-yard line as the fourth quarter began. Lorenzo Harrison capped that drive with a 1-yard run.
