Essenmacher rolls 17th career 800 series | USA Today High School Sports

John Essenmacher Jr. continues to raise the bar in case his talented kids ever decide to chase his awards totals. He tossed his 17th career 800 series with an 802 in the Tuesday Night Classic league at Strikers Entertainment Center.

Essenmacher was upstaged a little by a 17-year-old Armada High School student. Kyle Gest fired an 824 series that included a 300 game in the Monday Trio league at Strikers. There were two more perfect games in that house. Bill Winn picked up his second 300, this time in the Saturday Night Live league. Mike Rix, bowling in the Tuesday Night Classic league, rolled his first 300 game.

Two 300 games were thrown at Port Huron Lanes. Pat Reilly was perfect for the second consecutive week in the PHL Early 4 Man league ending with a solid 744 series. Don Brunelle tossed his first 300 game in the Port Huron Bowling Association. He finished that Friday Nite Misfits session with a 736 series.

Dylan Jacobs and Joe Beidler took their own bids at perfection into the 12 ball at Port Huron Lanes, but came up just short. Jacobs had a 299 in the Friday Nite Misfits and then also threw a 289 in the 3-B4-1 league. Beidler settled for a 297 in Cowboys & Indians.

There were a couple 700 series to lead the way for the women. Alicia Schroeder had 730 in the Friday Nite Misfits, including a 259 game. She was followed by Melissa Legault at 716 in Cowboys & Indians with a 275 game. Legault was edged out for high game by Karen Mazei who had a 278 in the Blue Water Men’s league at St. Clair River Lanes.

Mazei also led the rest of the women high series with a 684, followed by Dara Sinclair 655, Jaclyn Meldrum 633, Laurynn Ball 617, Crystal Cramer 606 and Chelsea Kelly 605.

Other high games included Jaclyn Meldrum 258, Michelle Carlson 247, Chelsea Kelly 247, Kelley Conard 246, Ashley Locke 234, Annette Paradis 233, Sarah Teschler 232 and 213, Shari Severini 232, Tara Barnes 231, Sinclair 227, Jerira Mazei 226, Jen Ojczyk 224, Irene Simmons 224, Olivia Brown 223, Melissa Simons 221, Laurynn Ball 215, Dawn Diaz 213, Cramer 212, Robyn Rossow 211, Jill Tobey 210 and Stephanie Black 210.

Matt Langolf led the rest of the men high series at 770, along with Rod Reeves at 750. Others were Rick St Onge 747, Lew Gunn 738, Dylan Jacobs 738, Don Allen 736, Chuck Ouellette 732, Chris Ball 730, Dan Frederick 728, Richard Mrazek 727, Joe Benner 725, Frank Mitchell 722, Jim Creasor 721, Jesse Hojnacki 718, PJ Hollis 718, Mike Polio 718, Nick Conard 717, Leo Anthony 715, Mike Gossman 715, Mark Chesney 715, Chad Rich 713, Tim Osmer 712 and Fred Leslie 712.

Other high games were Dan Frederick 289, Mike Polio 279, Paul Collins 279, Chris Ball 279, Brian Hayes 279, and Jim Creasor 279. Caleb McPhail tossed a 279 in the Port Huron Lanes Youth Majors league and ended with a 703 series.

Special mention

Christopher Borowy was 84 pins over average with a 200 game in the Sunday Funtimers league at Bowl O Drome.

Upcoming tournament

Match Game Singles will be Oct. 10 at Bowl O Drome. It will consist of two divisions with bowlers averaging less than 210 eligible for the lower division. The Senior Singles tournament will be Oct. 17 at Strikers Entertainment Center. All bowlers 50 and older in Port Huron bowling associations are eligible.
