Week 4 lohud boys soccer rankings
All records through Oct. 2

1. Arlington (8-1) — Despite taking their first loss against John Jay-EF on Thursday, there is still a compelling argument for the Admirals to remain at No. 1. They beat JJEF in the first game of the series on Monday and went unbeaten deeper into the season than any other Section 1 team. Previous ranking: 1

2. Byram Hills (8-1) — The Bobcats also took their first loss this past week, but they bounced back with a 2-0 win over Eastchester on Thursday. On Monday, they’ll travel to Port Chester with a chance to sweep their rival and set themselves up for a league title. PR: 2

3. Port Chester (8-2) — It’s now six wins in a row for the Rams, who have been rolling after a sluggish start. They’re looking like the top Class AA team in Westchester and a legitimate challenger for the Dutchess County trio of Arlington, John Jay-EF and Ketcham. PR: 4

4. Pearl River (11-1) — If not for a loss to Port Chester, the Pirates would be in the top three. Since then, they’ve rattled off nine straight wins, including wins over fellow Class A contenders Tappan Zee, Lakeland and Pelham. PR: 5

5. John Jay-East Fishkill (7-2-1) — Considering the meat grinder of a schedule that the Patriots tackled this past week, they came out of it in really good shape. After losing to top-ranked Arlington on Monday, they upset the Admirals three days later and also picked up a win over Ketcham. PR: 9

6. Ketcham (7-2) — A loss to John Jay-EF dropped the Indians to third in the pecking order among the power trio in Dutchess, but they’re no slouch. Ketcham has an explosive attack which is averaging 4.7 goals per game against Section 1 competition. PR: 3

7. Horace Greeley (8-2) — Since a lopsided loss to Scarsdale in their opener, the Quakers have won eight of their last nine and seven in a row. Greg Ginsberg and Jack Cohen are fitting in nicely since returning to the high school ranks. PR: 8

8. Mamaroneck (6-2-1) — A loss to Suffern in the final minutes of the Westchester vs. Rockland Challenge was stunning, but the Tigers are still in good shape. They beat Scarsdale head-to-head and could gain more control in a very competitive league with a win at New Ro on Wednesday. PR: 6

9. Scarsdale (7-2-1) — Losses to Arlington and Mamaroneck are very forgivable, but the Raiders have cooled off considerably since their hot start. They recently tied Eastchester and squeaked out one-goal wins over Harrison and White Plains, three teams which are well below .500. PR: 7

10. New Rochelle (6-1-2) — The Huguenots have been taking care of business against the teams that they’re expected to beat. But the schedule will be much less forgiving this week with games against Scarsdale, Mamaroneck and John Jay-EF. PR: Not ranked
