With just four weeks left in the season, teams are settling in for across-class skirmishes and divisional disputes. As the season enters the stretch run, here’s a look back at this week’s top performers with the American Family Insurance ALL-USA South Dakota Players of the Week:
Platte-Geddes picked up its first win of the season Friday night with a 48-24 win over Sunshine Bible Academy.
Parker Boyden led Platte-Geddes to its first win of the season with 11 carries for 168 yards and three touchdowns against Sunshine Bible Academy. Boyden also had a 62-yard touchdown pass.
Langford Area’s Lincoln Gibbs rushed 24 times for 284 yards while Chance Olson added 13 carries for 151 yards in the Lions’ 45-23 defeat of Warner.
Madison’s Brodie Frederiksen rushed for 167 yards and five touchdowns in the top-ranked Bulldogs’ 48-15 win over Vermillion.
Keegan Van Egdom needed just 12 carries to amass 251 yards and three touchdowns as Sioux Falls Christian blanked Flandreau 43-0.
Tyler Leisinger and co. tasked with cracking Trojans’ staunch defense
Brookings’ Gerald Maxwell followed a 225-yard performance against Lincoln with a 162 yards in Brookings’ 54-12 win over Huron.
O’Gorman’s Dodi Makwinja rushed 15 times for 128 yards and two scores in the Knights’ 42-10 win over Watertown. Luke Fritsch added 108 yards and two scores on 14 attempts.
Brandon’s Chase Grode caught five passes for 86 yards and returned an interception 72 yards for a score as the Lynx topped Harrisburg 30-6.
Lincoln’s Lee Ransom had five catches for 89 yards and a touchdown, and also scored on a 63-yard reverse as the Patriots defeated Aberdeen Central 28-0.
Reed Harter finished with six touchdowns – four passing and two rushing – as Colome upended Avon 56-22. Harter rushed for 163 yards and threw for 125 more.
One-dimensional Bobcats take on undefeated Riders
Chris Kropuenske had 17 carries for 141 yards and two scores, including the game-winner, to lead the Watchdogs past McCook-Central/Montrose. MCM was paced by Jerry Kappenman, who also finished with 141 yards (and a touchdown).
Tanner Gauer rushed for 156 yards and three touchdowns as Milbank downed Sioux Valley 33-21.
In Alcester-Hudson’s 50-36 win over Irene-Wakonda, Grant Johnson rushed for 210 yards and five touchdowns to go with 95 yards through the air. Mitchell Johnson racked up 197 yards rushing. I-W’s Gabe King finished 16 for 31 passing for 254 yards and three TDs, with seven of those going to Trey King (146 yards).
West Central’s Joseph Hanisch rushed for 111 yards and Jonah Rechtenbaugh 109 yards as the Trojans defeated Dell Rapids 30-7. Each scored a touchdown.
Canton’s Sam Peterson was 11 for 16 passing for 175 yards and a touchdown, while Logan Ranschau added 141 yards rushing and three scores. Canton defeated Dakota Valley 34-17.
