THREE KEYS TO THE GAME
1. Can St. X stop Trinity’s rushing attack? Led by senior Jailen Reed, junior Jovan Smith and a solid offensive line, Trinity is averaging 191 rushing yards per game. St. X beat Pleasure Ridge Park 21-13 last week but allowed the Panthers to rush for 333 yards. The Tigers’ defense must be stronger against Trinity.
2. Can Desmond Ridder continue to carry the St. X offense? The junior quarterback has passed for 587 yards and four touchdowns and also leads the Tigers in rushing, averaging 9.9 yards per carry.
3. Who will be the surprise star? Every year the St. X-Trinity rivalry seems to feature a relatively obscure player who comes out of nowhere to make big plays. Last year it was St. Xavier’s Blake Roshkowski, who rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown on five carries in the Tigers’ 35-21 victory.
