Soccer roundup: Euell leads Rhinebeck boys over Pine Plains | USA Today High School Sports



Behind the tandem play of Ryan Euell and Walter Gadsby, the Rhinebeck High School boys soccer team beat visiting Pine Plains 3-0 on Thursday.

Euell scored two goals and added an assist, while Gadsby scored once with one assist. Goalie Spencer Hutchins made three saves.

Keeper Omar Mendez had seven saves for Pine Plains.

“It was definitely our first cold weather game, which made for some interesting playing conditions,” said Rhinebeck coach Justin Wiesenthal, whose Hawks improved to 7-1. “The boys played well; controlled the flow of the game.”

Rhinebeck (7-1) visits Millbrook at 4:15 p.m. Friday. Pine Plains hosts John A. Coleman Catholic at 4:15 p.m. Monday.

Spackenkill 3, Dover 1 —Andrew Moreira scored twice and Andrew David added a goal for the visiting Spartans. Goalie Ryan Espinoza had three saves.

Zach Nguyen scored the lone goal for Dover (2-5-2), which visits Ellenville Tuesday.

Spackenkill (7-1) hosts Pine Plains Tuesday.

New Paltz 2, Rondout Valley 1 — Will Cymbal and Riley Gibson scored a goal apiece for the host Huguenots. Will Kay made seven saves in goal.

New Paltz (6-3) hosts Red Hook at 4:15 p.m. Friday.

Ellenville 7, Webutuck 0 — Thomas Stefenopoulos made 11 saves in goal for the host Warriors,

Girls soccer

Marina Martin had two goals and an assist and Julia Rotando had a goal and two assists to lead host Haldane to a 5-0 win over Peekskill. Tobey Kane-Seitz and Ally Ashburn each added a goal. Sara Labriola made two saves for Haldane (7-4).

“Marina had a lot of nice one- and two-touch passes and the offense was clicking,” Haldane coach Gary Van Asselt said. “We executed the corner kicks well and they finished on the chances they had.”

Haldane visits Putnam Valley at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Marlboro 5, Highland 0 — Taylor DuBois scored twice and Hannah Sullivan had a goal and two assists to lead host Marlboro.

Kali Schindler added a goal and an assist, Briann Baron also scored and Joyce Ryder had an assist. Emily Mott made four saves and Eliz Fino had three stops for the Iron Dukes (4-4).

Alexis Rivera made seven saves for Highland (2-6-1).
