Rahshaun Smith decommitted from Clemson in August and decided to re-open his recruitment. However, the five-star linebacker says that Clemson remains in the picture along with several other schools.
“I’ve been talking to LSU, Clemson, Auburn and Maryland a lot,” Rahshaun Smith said. “You only get this chance one time in your life and I wanted to make sure I choose the right place.”

The draw to play at Maryland is one that could bear watching. Over the summer Maryland football hired Baltimore-based trainer Cory Robinson to be their director of player personnel. Smith has called Robinson his mentor and a father figure.
“A lot of guys from back home get in my ear a little,” Smith said. “I’m friends with some guys that are committed to Maryland and you know they want me to come back and represent the home state.”
Smith also has his roommate at IMG, Saivion Smith, in his ear about joining him at LSU. Both Rahshaun Smith and Saivion Smith will be on official visits at LSU on the weekend of October 16 when the Tigers host Florida.
“Oh yeah I’m recruiting Rahshaun and Shavar [Manuel],” Saivion Smith said. “I enjoy playing with them here and would love for them to join me at LSU. I’m always talking up LSU around Rahshaun.”
Rahshaun Smith says he doesn’t have a leader but LSU, Clemson, Oregon and Maryland are standing out. He will take official visits to Maryland and Clemson following the season.
