Two alleged terrorists were killed in crossfire with law enforcement agencies in Dera Ghazi Khan on Tuesday night. Law enforcement agencies had conducted an operation in the hilly areas of Sakhi Serwar near Dera Ghazi Khan.
According to details, the LEAs had obtained information about a camp of terrorists in the area. Officials were holding a search operation in the area when some suspected terrorists opened fire at them. The officials shot back and the crossfire continued for several hours. Two of the alleged terrorists were killed and their accomplices escaped. Police said a suicide jacket, three hand grenades, a Kalashnikov, a pistol, and more than 200 bullets had been seized from the camp. The Civil Defence staff was called to the spot to dispose of the suicide jacket and hand grenades. The bodies were sent for autopsy to the district headquarters hospital. The search operation continued well into Wednesday morning. Those killed were identified as Muhammad Safdar and Kareem Nawaz. Police said they had links with Jamaatul Alaharar – a terrorist outfit. They said the terrorists had been involved in various heinous crimes in Wahwa and Taunsa City and were planning an attack in Dera Ghazi Khan.
