Tommy Brown is a senior defensive tackle for Plano High in Illinois. Like most defensive lineman, visions of touchdowns dance in his head, and he finally got the opportunity to live out that dream in a recent game against Yorkville.
In the third quarter, Brown found himself playing at the line of scrimmage after a pressured Yorkville quarterback Cameron Van Boekel scrambled and eventually lobbed up a desperation pass. While loosely intended for someone in a Yorkville jersey, the ball instead carried right to Brown, who caught it with ease and began rumbling, bumbling, stumbling toward the end zone.
In fairness, he never should have made it, but once Brown had the goal line in his sights, Van Boekel never had a chance. Instead of acquiescing to be tackled, Brown just ran over Van Boekel like a speed bump.
He never stopped until he was celebrating wildly in the end zone, all his dreams come true. His team’s eventual 28-14 victory was fun, but we’re willing to let Brown enjoy his own moment of glory even more for a change. He earned it.
