Prep roundup: Marshall spikes Pennfield in four sets | USA Today High School Sports

In an Interstate Eight conference contest that saw several close scores, it was the Marshall Redhawks who came out on top most often, defeating Pennfield in four sets, 25-23, 25-23, 24-26, 25-14.

With the win, the Redhawks improve to 20-9-3 overall and 3-0 in the Interstate Eight.

Statistically for Marshall, Emily Delmotte led the team with 17 kills, while Mackenzie Benham had 12.

Grace Corcoran led on defense with 15 digs, and Kaylie Bates had 40 assists and 14 digs.

Also for the Redhawks, Nikki Tucker contributed three blocks.


HARPER CREEK 3, CHARLOTTE 0: The Beavers (28-4-1, 3-1 I-8) swept the Orioles in three sets (25-14, 25-17, 25-12) in the Interstate Eight matchup. Charley Andrews recorded 18 kills, Olivia Leson had nine kills and nine digs, Jess Cadena had 11 digs, and Katie Wade had 25 assists.

GULL LAKE 3, LOY NORRIX 0: The Blue Devils won in three sets, 25-19, 25-21, 25-18 in conference action. The Blue Devils are now 17-16 overall and 1-1 in the SMAC East.

MATTAWAN 3, LAKEVIEW 0: The Spartans put up a good fight against No. 3 ranked Mattawan, but fell short by scores of 17-25, 18-25, and 13-25. Rose Tecumseh led Lakeview (17-15, 1-1 SMAC East) with nine kills, Aiden Baum had eight digs, Emma Morey had 13 assists, and Sidney Schiller had four blocks.

LAKEWOOD 3, OLIVET 0 (TUE.): The Eagles fell by scores of 13-25, 6-25 and 13-25 in this Greater Lansing Athletic Conference matchup. Olivet (9-8-1, 3-1 GLAC) was led by Bailey Hoffman with four kills, Noelle Rohde with three kills and three blocks, Taylor Holmes with nine assists and Loren Westlake with eight digs.

MAPLE VALLEY 3, PERRY 0 (TUE.): The Lions won by scores of 25-15, 25-14 and 25-21 in this Greater Lansing Athletic Conference matchup. Maple Valley was led on the night by Megan Bonney with five kills; Michaela Johnson had 15 digs and four kills, Taylor Medina had 13 digs and Brooklyn Scott had 16 assists.


PARMA WESTERN 2, HARPER CREEK 0 (TUE.): In goal for Harper Creek (3-5-2 overall, 1-3-1 I-8), Jack Bohannon made 11 saves. The Beavers return to action Thursday when they host Coldwater.

(AT) DELTON KELLOGG 6, SAUGATUCK 1 (TUE.): The host Panthers were led by Max Dometzky with three goals and an assists. Also for Delton Kellogg (7-6, 6-2 SWAC), Payton Warner had a goal and two assists, Torben Schenck had a goal and an assist, Tristen Arce scored and Joseph Gherardi and Ricky Partanen had an assist apiece. Jared Squire made one save in goal.
