Mountain Heritage’s next home football game won’t be a home game at all.
The Cougars have worked out an agreement with North Buncombe to use the Black Hawks’ field for Friday’s Western Highlands Conference game against Polk County.
Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. in Weaverville.
Mountain Heritage is 4-2 overall and 0-1 in the WHC after Monday’s 48-44 loss at Hendersonville. Polk County is 3-3 overall and 1-0 after storming past Polk County, 50-7, on Monday.
Cougars football coach/athletic director Joey Robinson said his program didn’t have any choice if it wanted to get in Friday’s game which was originally supposed to played in Burnsville. North Buncombe has an artificial turf field, while Mountain Heritage plays on natural grass.
“It’s our only option,” Robinson said.
“We have the pay for the lights and we have to pay for the concession workers. We’re going to lose money doing this, but there was nowhere else to put it.”- Follow the HS Huddle on Facebook: www.facebook.com/hshuddle or Twitter: www.twitter.com/acthshuddle
