Last week: Penfield (7-1), a state tournament finalist in Class AA, rallied to edge Webster Schroeder three games to two. Steigerwald had 50 assists and six aces. The Patriots defeated Victor in five, as Steigerwald finished with 58 assists, 20 digs and 6 kills. The Section V Class AA champions defeated Fairport in four, while Steigerwald delivered 44 assists, 4 kills and 3 aces.
“In a span of eight days, she carried this team because of injuries,” Penfield coach Andrew Solomon said.
