How to increase tmp folder partition size on cpanel Server
Know how can you increase the partition size of tmp or tmpdsk folder in a cpanel installed Linux server. Increase folder size and secure tmp in simple steps.
Running a cPanel installed Linux server with its tmp full? Well tmp folder in linux OS carries a major importance but when it gets full, it creates lots of trouble for the system.
To overcome this problem, you can either empty the tmp folder or if it is happening at higher frequency, better increase the partition size of tmp folder.
But need to do this from ssh using putty/terminal. Here I am telling you how to increase tmp partition size in cpanel installed linux server & also securing it after that.
1. First stop all the related services
/etc/init.d/cpanel stop /etc/init.d/httpd stop /etc/init.d/mysql stop
2. Open securetmp using this command
and find this line $tmpdsksize=xxxx; the default values are in bytes, you can change them to whatever you want. (here my tmp size was 512 mb or 512000 B which have been changed to 2048000 B)
3. Once you’re done, save and exit (Ctrl+X) from the file.
4. Run the command
5. and now is the time to startall the services
/etc/init.d/cpanel start /etc/init.d/httpd start /etc/init.d/mysql start
You can now check the increased status of tmp folder. Use command df -h from putty to check the new size of tmp folder, you can also check if from WHM >server status>service status
Hope this was useful for you. Let us know if you still have issues increasing tmp partition size.
